Breast Cancer - More Than One Type
I just learnt about this. I have never heard of this before. I thought breast cancer is breast cancer. However, I just saw a news clip that talked about Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) which a large number of women did not know about. This is scary. I want to do my part and share this with you and ask you to do the full research about this silent killer.
Here are some of the sypmtons a person affected by IBC may encounter, according to IBC Research Foundation.
- Swelling, usually sudden, sometimes a cup size in a few days
- Itching
- Pink, red, or dark colored area (called erythema) sometimes with texture similar to the skin of an orange (called peau d’orange)
- Ridges and thickened areas of the skin
- Nipple retraction
- Nipple discharge, may or may not be bloody
- Breast is warm to the touch
- Breast pain (from a constant ache to stabbing pains)
- Change in color and texture of the areola
These sypmtons are not detectable by a mammograms or ultrasound.
